I write this as I sit next to a frosty window at Starbucks in the Village at Northstar. The sun is shining, kids are laughing, families are bonding and roasting s’mores by the fires. Ice skaters young and old make their way around the rink and holiday music can be heard across the cobbles. The holidays certainly have arrived at Northstar.
Northstar and The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe are hosting holiday events throughout the month of December. Wherever you live, join us this holiday season. Come ski, ride, skate, eat, laugh, and bond with family and friends before we say goodbye to 2013.
Take an extra day off work, pull the kids out of school and pack the car early to get here in time for Noel Nights, a Village-wide event that happens the first three Thursdays of December. We’re going all out, turning Northstar into a festive winter wonderland complete with a 35-foot tree, ice skating, holiday carolers, shopping deals, pictures with Santa, and sleigh rides through the Village. It’s the ultimate fix for the family (or that one family member) that’s hopelessly in love with the holidays.
Nothing gets kids, parents and couples in the mood for the holidays like fresh gingerbread and frosting-covered fingers. On the first three Saturdays in December, get your skiing and riding in early, then join a professional pastry chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe to build a gingerbread masterpiece.
Tree Lighting Celebration
Arrive in style with complimentary valet parking open to the community. The evening will include s’mores for the kids, a Marshmologist for those who indulge in 21+ beverages, cookie decorating, and ornament making. The Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe and the Tahoe Expedition Academy will perform, followed by a ceremonial lighting of the tree. Wherever you’re staying, this event is ideal for getting in the spirit with friends and family in casual, luxurious style.
I don’t need to write much about this one, seeing how chocolate is in the title. The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe is putting its signature twist on classic hot chocolate every afternoon from December 20 – 31 with luxurious toppings (including my personal favorite, peppermint bark), as well as dipping chocolate and an array of fresh fruits and pastries. There’s nothing to do but attend and indulge.
Cosmic Christmas Concert
If you’re a classical music enthusiast, astronomy geek, or holiday fanatic, find yourself at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe on the evening of December 21. The Sierra Strings of Tahoe will perform classic holiday tunes, select poems will be read, and attendees will be invited to partake in a telescopic observing of the winter night sky.
In addition to Noel Nights, the Village will be all holidays, all the time from December 21 – 24. With live music in the Village, Santa visits, sleigh rides, cookie decorating, and ice skating, there will be plenty of cheer to go around. We pride ourselves at Northstar on being a family-focused resort, and it’s no different during the holidays. Make memories on the mountain and in the Village by celebrating with us.
Manzanita at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe will have a special holiday meal December 24th and 25th. Chef de cuisine Jeremy Grossman will craft a menu to give you and yours a holiday dining experience you’ll never forget. And on the 25th, break up your time on the slopes with a Holiday Buffet in the Lake Tahoe Ballroom.
New Year’s Eve
Finally, let’s cap it all off with a bang! The Village at Northstar has a certain buzz about it every year on New Year’s Eve. Families are laughing, couples are kissing and everyone is joined in the moment of the transition to another year. There will be live music, dancing, ice skating, s’mores roasting, and an incredible fireworks display. It’s the perfect family event, and the very best way to finish 2013 and begin 2014 in the same fashion, by carving turns on the mountain.
